About Us

The Computer Science Program at the Pickens County College and Career Center offers an Associate of Applied Science (AAS) in System Information Technology from Bevill State Community College and offers students a comprehensive foundation in computer science with a focus on iOS App Development with Swift, programming, logic, cyber security, networking, and basic IT help desk support. This three-year dual enrollment program is designed to equip students with the knowledge and skills necessary to pursue entry-level positions in the rapidly evolving field of information technology.
Key Features:

  1. iOS App Development with Swift: Students will learn the fundamentals of iOS app development using Swift, Apple's programming language. They will develop skills in designing, building, and testing mobile applications for iPhone and iPad devices.
  2. Programming: The program provides a strong emphasis on programming principles and practices. Students will gain proficiency in languages such as Python, Java, and C++, learning to write efficient and scalable code to solve complex problems.
  3. Logic: A solid understanding of logic forms the basis of sound programming and problem-solving. Students will learn logical thinking skills, algorithm development, and problem-solving strategies essential for success in the IT industry.
  4. Cyber Security: With the increasing prevalence of cyber threats, cyber security is a critical component of modern IT systems. Students will learn about common security threats, techniques for securing networks and systems, and best practices for data protection and privacy.
  5. Networking: Networking fundamentals are essential for understanding how computers communicate and interact within a networked environment. Students will study topics such as network protocols, routing, switching, and network administration.
  6. Basic IT Help Desk: The program covers basic IT support skills, including troubleshooting hardware and software issues, providing technical assistance to users, and managing IT resources effectively. Students will develop customer service skills and learn how to address common IT problems faced by end-users.
